I’m so looking forward to visiting school tomorrow and working with my two groups on the brain and how it works doing the different jobs it needs to do to keep us functioning.
Our brain does so many things for us automatically without us even having to think about it. Our brain sometimes does our thinking for us. This can cause problems though when we don’t have all the information we need to make decisions, we can end up making decisions that aren’t very good decisions and we only find that out afterwards. Learning about decision making is important as we need to check out that we have all the information we need to make good decisions.
Growing up teaches us about decision making and reflecting on our decisions. Learning about the brain and understanding that it will fill in gaps of knowledge automatically is an important lesson. We need to make sure we check out our automatic thoughts before accepting them as ‘Truth’. As an automatic thought that is not true could have us making a very bad decision.
I’ll be asking the children to tell me about good and bad decisions and what their brains were doing at the times of those decisions.
I’ll let you all know how we get on
